Should my iPhone/iPod touch and my desktop be on the same network?

Yes, your iPhone/iPod touch and your desktop running Appigo Sync should be on the same computer network (subnet). Your iPhone/iPod touch must use Wi-Fi to connect to the network.
Appigo Sync uses a technology called Bonjour which allows your iPhone and your desktop to discover each other without having to enter in any network addresses or special ports. While it may be possible with advanced configurations for Bonjour to work across multiple subnets, Bonjour works best when the two devices are connected to the same subnet on your network.
To verify that your desktop computer and your iPhone/iPod touch are on the same network, please use the following process:
On your desktop, open the Network settings in System Preferences.

Press the "Advanced..." button and then go to the TCP/IP settings screen. Your subnet mask and router information must match the information on your iPhone/iPod touch.

You can find the TCP/IP address information for your iPhone/iPod touch by opening the device's main Settings -> Wi-Fi.

Then, tap the blue chevron button to see the specifics.
