A Quick Guide to Filters for Smart Lists

We’ve been making quite a big deal about the new Smart List functionality of Todo Cloud for iOS. That’s because we’re pretty excited about them and our customers who are using them, LOVE THEM. We find that once users get started, they begin seeing more and more ways that Smart Lists can help them get more done.
As we’ve stated in other posts, there is so much that you can do with Smart Lists. If you’ve missed our previous posts about Smart Lists, here are a few to get you started:

For those of you who are trying to get your feet wet, but need a little more guidance about how Smart Lists function, here’s a quick guide to the filters you’ll find when setting up a Smart List.
Tags – filter tasks by the tags are associated with them. Your options here are to:

  • Show tasks with any tag
  • Show tasks with no tag
  • Show tasks that match ALL of a selected group of tags
  • Show tasks that match ANY of a selected group of tags

Date Filters – Todo gives you a variety of options to filter tasks by dates. We have an entire post dedicated to this. Learn more here.

Priority – filter tasks by the priority level assigned to them. Your options are to:

  • Show tasks with no priority
  • Show tasks with level one priority
  • Show tasks with level two priority
  • Show tasks with level three priority
  • Show tasks that have a combination of any of the above

Starred – show all tasks that have been marked with a star

Task name – filter tasks that have specific search terms in the task name. You can set the filter to match ALL search terms (i.e. Crossfit AND Chocolate) or to match ANY search terms (i.e. Crossfit OR Chocolate)

Note – filter tasks that have specific search terms in the notes. You can set the filter to match ALL search terms (i.e. Crossfit AND Chocolate) or to match ANY search terms (i.e. Crossfit OR Chocolate)

Task type – filter tasks by task-type (i.e. normal tasks, projects or checklists)

Task action – filter tasks based on assigned task actions (i.e. Contact, URL or location)

Assigned to – filter tasks based on who they are assigned to
